Life champion aside, Butch Jones is a legitimate football champion. He replaced Brian Kelly at both Central Michigan and Cincinnati, and he delivered two conference championships for both programs. He signed the No. 7 recruiting class in the nation in 2014 and the No. 4 recruiting class in the nation in 2015. Overall, Butch Jones is 84–54 (34-27 at Tennessee) with four bowl victories.

It’s easy to gauge Adams’ greatness because we just witnessed the greatness of Omar Bayless, who turned in the best season of any NCAA receiver in 2019. Their games are similar. Opposing secondaries regard them with identical terror. Neither dominated until their Senior years. Both receivers made corners and safeties look like junior varsity apprentices.
Aside from a mostly disastrous string of trick plays, Anderson’s “soft and fun” style of play has taken the program onto a winding journey to the Sun Belt’s Basement. The three-man rush, the coverage cushion, the even-snap two-man QB rotation reveals a team that is indecisive and without confidence.
But there was simply too much Jonathan Adams. Too much Dahu Green, Too much Brandon Bowling and juuuuust enough Lincoln Pare to overcome all the kitchen sinks the Panthers tossed on the gridiron.
