Red Wolves release first two-deep of the season.

To our collective dismay, “OR” will play a role behind center as both James Blackman and Layne Hatcher were named possible starters in the two-deep roster Arkansas State released today.

Transfers italicized

Here are some first-glance observations that I’ve formatted in fan friendly bullet-points so you can absorb them easily:

  • The Newbies made an impact, with nine transfer student-athletes cracking the two-deep. (Italicized above)
  • The Red Wolves highest rated freshman signee, Cam Jefferies, will play behind Anthony Switzer at linebacker.
  • Of the transfers recruited for offensive line, only Robert Holmes made the two-deep. Massive 6’9″ Kentucky transfer, Nick Lewis, reportedly leaped back into the transfer portal.
  • Returning starter at corner Samy Johnson is listed as an “or” with Kenneth Harris behind Jarius Reimonenq. Johnson, who was padless at the Spring Game, may still be injured.
  • No surprise: Kivon Bennett (DL), Marcel Murray (RB) and Corey Rucker (WR) are all #1s.

If I have any more penetrating thoughts, you’ll be the first to know.

I forgot the specialists. If you find me floating in Craighead Forest Lake, interrogate the specialists.
