Louisiana’s Bryan Maggard Awarded the 2021 Sun Sheriff Badge

Moments for the kickoff of the 2021 Sun Belt Championship Football game, Howlraiser.com announced that Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Athletic Director Byran Maggard was the first recipient of the Howlraiser Sun Belt Sheriff Award.

The Sun Belt Sheriff Award Badge is made of real gold colored metal

The Sun Belt Sheriff Award is bestowed upon the Sun Belt Athletic Director whose football program has “laid down the law” for the conference. Howlraiser editor Jeremy Harper explains how Maggard was chosen.

“We didn’t have a shortage of great candidates this year,” said Harper. “Bryan Maggard was chosen for guiding his program to a national spotlight, appearing consistently in the AP Top 25, cracking the College Football Playoff Rankings and winning 11 straight games.”

“Maggard has transformed the Cajuns into a nationally recognized brand,” continued Harper. “His leadership is a true credit to the Sun Belt Conference.”

Among candidates considered: Doug Gillin (Appalachian State), Matt Hogue (Coastal Carolina), Joel Erdmann (South Alabama) and Scott McDonald (ULM).

The Sun Belt Sheriff Award is independently awarded and is not affiliated with the Sun Belt Conference.
