Butch Jones to bring offensive and defensive leaders to New Orleans
Last season, Butch Jones arrived to Sun Belt Media Day flanked by trench warriors TW Ayers and Andre Harris. This year, the 2nd year head coach has selected two high-profile seniors to rep the Red Wolves: presumed starting quarterback James Blackman and defensive lineman Kivon Bennett.
Both Bennett and Blackman are transfers from high profile programs now in their second year with Arkansas State. Bennett, who transferred from Tennessee, led the team 16.5 TFL at linebacker. Blackman, a transfer from Florida State, made five starts last season and finished with 1,344 total yards as a redshirt-junior.
The honor to Blackman appears to be another signal that the senior has a solid foothold on starting behind center. Meanwhile, Bennett is expected to move from linebacker to defensive end.
