After going up 3-1 in the best of seven match, the Red Wolves lost three straight to Vanderbilt as the Commodores picked up their third national championship.
The Red Wolves opened hot, winning the first two games in dominating fashion behind a steady hand from lead bowling Emma Stull and and bottomless bag of strikes from Brooklyn Buchanan. But as the national championship seemed within grasp, the Red Wolves seemed to catch a case of nerves, resulting in a series of untimely splits and open frames.
It was a terrific season for A-State, who rolled through the NCAA tournament undefeated after winning the Southland Conference. But as the Red Wolves lost confidence in last three games of the year, Vanderbilt seemed to thrive on the comeback, led by Jennifer Loredo and NCAA Bowler of the Year Mabel Cummins.
